When life gives you apples

Make apple sauce!

I had two apples I needed to use so I decided to make apple sauce. My little man could eat strawberries all day. I decided he needed a slight change. In his I didn't add anything but apples and strawberries.

I boiled one cup of water
Added the apples
Cooked until a fork could easily pierce (about 10 minutes)
Purreed and added strawberries.

I didn't have time to find a recipe nor did I want to add sugar and butter. He loved it.
I added a little cinnamon and lemon to mine.
It was quick and simple.

I'd love to hear your recipes. What should I do different?  I would love to know what your favorite quick homemade recipe it doesn't have to be apple sauce!

  1. Gosh, my youngest is 2.5 yrs now, but when they were babes they LOVED an oatmeal/prune mix. I would boil prunes for a very short time and mix with oatmeal and I believe cinnamon? (It's been a while). Puree and serve, (and freeze leftovers in ice cube trays and cover). Whatever the exact recipe was, they LOVED it.

  5. When my children were little I made them all homemade baby food. A food processor works great for this. Puree any fruit or vegetable, adding water to puree and you will always have fresh food without all the "junk" in it. Remember, if it is on a shelf in the supermarket it has to have something in it to preserve it. Experiment, you will amaze yourself.
